ABSTRACT
Objective To determine the expression of human protection of telomeres 1 (hPOT1) and its relationship with Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection in gastric carcinoma.Methods The expressions of hPOT1 protein and hPOT mRNA were detected in 53 gastric carcinoma specimens (observed group) and 20 normal gastric mucosa tissues (control group) by SP immunohistochemical method and in situ hybridization (ISH), respectively.HP infection was examined by Warthin-Starry method in observed group.Results The positive expression rate of hPOT1 protein was 84.91％ (45/53) in observed group, higher than that in control group [30.00 ％ (6/20)] (P ＜ 0.01).The positive expression rate of hPOT1 mRNA was 58.49 ％ (31/53) in observed group, higher than that in control group [10.00 ％ (2/20)] (P ＜ 0.05).The positive co-expression rate of hPOT1 protein and mRNA was 56.60 ％ (30/53), both had positive relationship in gastric carcinoma (r =0.394, P ＜ 0.05).The rate of HP infection in 53 cases of gastric carcinoma was 52.83 ％ (28/53).The positive expression rates of hPOTI protein and mRNA in observed group with HP infection were significantly higher than those in observed group without HP infection[protein: 96.43 ％ (27/28) vs 72.00 ％ (18/25), P ＜0.05;mRNA: 85.75 ％ (24/28) vs 28.00 ％ (7/25), P ＜ 0.01].Conclusions hPOT1 may be associated with occurrence of gastric carcinoma.Combined detection of hPOT1 protein and mRNA can be used for the diagnosis of gastric carcinoma.HP infection may be associated with abnormal expression of hPOT1 in occurrence of gastric carcinoma.

Aucklandialappa Decne [ALD] is one of the traditional herbs to treat various kinds of disorders including asthma, cough, vomit, diarrhea, hepatitis and cholecystitis. However, its effects on indigestion and particularly antiulcer activity of ethanol extract have not been studied. In the study, the Aucklandia lappa Decne extract [ALDE] was investigated to see if it againstgastric injury effects through traditional pathways. Ethyl alcohol and epinephrine hydrochloride were used to induce acute gastric mucous membrane damage in adult SD rats and Kunming mice, respectively. This present study evaluated its effects on peptic ulcer of ALDE treatment in SD rats and Kunming mice. In acute gastric mucous membrane damage induced by ethyl alcohol in rats, the results indicated that three ALDE treatment groups highly significantly decreased the mucosal damage index as compared to the model group. Furthermore, this mucosal damage index of the mid-dose group significantly decreased while the high-range dose group highly significantly decreased, respectively, as compared to the SO group. The ulcer inhibition rate of low -dose, mid-dose and high-dose ALDE treatment groups reached 68.64%, 72.67% and 74.91%, respectively. In acute gastric mucous membrane damage induced by pyloric ligation in rats, the results indicated that three ALDE treatment groups highly significantly decreased the mucosal damage index as compared to the model group. The mucosal damage index of middose group significantly decreased while the high-range dose group highly significantly decreased, respectively as compared to the SO group. The ulcer inhibition rate of low-dise, mid-dose and high-dose ALDE treatment groups reached 68.64%, 72.67% and 74.91%, respectively. In acute gastric mucous membrane damage induced by pyloric ligation in rats, the results indicated that three ALDE treatment groups highly significantly decreased the mucosal damage index of, respectively, as compared to the model group. Furthermore, This mucosal damage index of the midrange dose group significantly decreased while the high-dose group highly significantly decreased, respectively, as compared to the SO group. Our results indicated that ALDE exhibits a marked effect on peptic ulcer activity in animals, which supports previous results of its use in traditional Chinese medicine
ABSTRACT
Anopheles minimus A and C and several closely related species of mosquitoes have been identified in Vietnam, where some have been implicated in malaria transmission. Morphological variation within and between Anopheles minimus A and C makes identification using alpha taxonomy difficult and several molecular techniques have been developed to separate them. However the difficulties of applying these techniques and the benefits of morphological identification in the field have seen morphological characteristics, such as the humeral pale spot on the costa, being used to separate these two species. In this study, the morphological and molecular examinations of 2,206 specimens collected in Vietnam indicate that pale scaling on the proboscis reliably separates An. aconitus from An. minimus s.l., but hind tarsal banding cannot separate An. jeyporiensis from An. minimus s.l., and the presence or absence of the humeral pale spot is not a reliable characteristic for differentiating An. minimus A from C due to variation of this characteristic in An. minimus C.

Objective To study angiography features and clinical significance of "multiple tumor feeding embolization".Methods Twelve patients with pelvic tumor were reviewed retrospectively.The lesions included fibrosarcoma(n=1),chondrosarcoma(n=2),osteosarcoma(n=2) and metastatic tumor(n=7).Results Angiography features were:(1)multiple origin and branch of tumor-feeding vessels.(2)large vascular mass with dense tumor stain.(3)larger size of tumor stain comparing with that of bone destraction.After treatment,symptom relief and tumor shrink were obviously using"the multiple tumor-feeding embolization".Conclusion Angiography features of pelvic tumor are great value in guiding the clinical therapy.
